52 minIt is the most important sacred space in the Andes, from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. Here, observations and rituals were performed by the amautas, or Inca and pre-Inca sages. When the colonizers encountered this pilgrimage by the indigenous people, they fabricated the first miracle in the Andes as part of the extirpation of idolatry, with the aim of making the indigenous people stop believing in their ancestral gods. In this respect, we are the first to point out its importance and its true dimension within the Andean worldview.
