50 minFollowing the expansion of urban development, land prices in Taipei’s Shilin District soared exponentially. The Shinkong Textile plant in Shilin became the first to close down. Soon, its laid-off workers gathered for a street protest, singing popular songs with altered lyrics. As the battle wore on, they began a long-term protest in front of the Shinkong headquarters lasting for 76 days.
